Braids- a gorgeous trend

This was my final Gala look

A twist on the classic french braid

Ever since I was little, I loved braids.  My mom would french braid my hair for the first day of school and when I went on vacation, I always had to get my hair braided on the islands.  Braids bring me back to childhood and I am so excited that they could be weaved into today’s fashion.

Since I am not the best braider, I usually leave it up to ony of my girlfriend’s to do a braid headband on myself.  A couple months ago, I went to a Gala for a PR event and just brought in a picture of the braided look I wanted.  The hairstylist did an amazing job because she said this trend is popular so she had a lot of practice.  The braided headband is perfect for an outdoor event such as a wedding or pool party.  The braided updos and half updos are elegant yet give off a very youthful vibe.  Get your braid on ladies!

Color Me Floral

I am in Starbucks enjoying my iced skinny vanilla latte when I see 2 girls walk in with the cutest floral outfits.  One girl just had a tight floral tank top with a cream blazer over it and the other had on floral accessories- floral l bangles and sunglasses.  Their outfits were like an early taste of spring.  A floral accent or entire floral outfit is a true classic that really gives an innocent, girly vibe.  Wearing one of these adorable floral dresses will make you feel care-free and like you should be selling lemonade at a stand.  It is the perfect daytime date outfit; this innocent look will make any guy’s heart sink.

I am also loving the pink&white floral sheets. It is totally shabby chic!

Crescent S’mores

If you are like me, you usually have a get-together on a whim.  No time for planning, no time for shopping, you just have 1 hour to get some appetizers together for your hungry guests!  This is why these crescent s’mores are the perfect emergency snack and much more impressive than cheese & crackers.  This is what you need:

  • Pillsbury crescents
  • chocolate chips
  • mini marshmallows

Just fill the crescents with about 10 chocolate chips and a small handful of mini marshmallows and bake the crescents as you normally would.  In around 10-13 minutes you have mouth-watering crescents s’mores that will leave your guests’ sweet tooth satisfied.

*Another variation is replacing the mini marshmallows with slivered almonds to make Chocolate Almond Crescents.

Sushi lunch date

So it’s hump day Wednesday and I really need a lift from this work day.  Me and a co-worker are going out for sushi.  We wanted something semi-healthy but were not in the mood for salads.  Sushi is the perfect guilty pleasure that can have many health benefits to your diet.  Although it’s not as low-cal as a plain salad, the thin, toasted seaweed sheets, called Nori, used in rolled (maki) sushi are high in Vitamin A, B-complex, Niacin and Vitamin C. It is also good for digestion.

My perfect mid-day pleasure. xoxo

Turquoise ♥

I went shopping at a local boutique today and knew spring was coming when I saw all these beautiful turquoise accessories.  I love turquoise because even those of you that are color shy (you know who you are!) can throw on a bright turquoise bangle and it will bring your outfit to life.  A turquoise necklace will also make a very simple dress look much more classy so you can pull it off at work or a night out.
