Trending this weekend

I had a crazy, busy, exciting weekend.  Friday night I went to Mohegan Sun Casino & celebrated my friend’s 25th Birthday!  There were so many people there and it was a blast.  Since I went to the restaurants & the club in the casino as well as several different hot spot in the casino, it was fun to see what was trending this weekend.

  • Bright colored pumps.  Although many girls were in theie LBD (Little Black Dresses), they were sporting bright, neon stilettos which added a fun twist.

  • Sequin.  This is a classic that is coming back.  Shiny, attention-getting, and not subtle at all but so cute!

  • Bite-size desserts.  It seems as though all the restaurants have caught on.  We all have a sweet tooth but sometime just want “one bite.”  Restaurants are making mini desserts, perfect way to satisfy that sweet tooth without over-indulging.

.

  • Patterned nails.  Remember when airbrush was the collest thing ever?  Now, everyone has hand-painted nail designs.  I totally need to find the manicurist that these girls are using because the nails are gorgeous!  From flowers to animal print, I saw it all this weekend!

Iced Coffee

I love my coffee and as soon as the weather gets a little warmer, I like to switch over to iced coffee.  On a lazy Sunday like today, it’s nice to be able to make it at home.  The nice thing about iced coffee, is it stays pretty fresh for a couple days so I made some extra for Monday morning too.

Directions:

  • Brew your favorite coffe as normal.  Turn burner off and let cool until room temperature.
  • Pour some coffee into ice cube tray and put in the freezer.
  • Put coffee in large container or big jars and refridgerate for about an hour.
  • Once ice cubes are completely frozen, put in a cup and pour iced coffee in.  Add cream&sugar as desired.

*My favorite part of this homemade recipe is the coffee ice cubes because I hate when iced coffee gets watery! 🙂

Spring Decor Inspiration

Along with spring cleaning comes the fun part– Spring re-decorating.  I learned this from my mom.  Soon as spring hits, she changes the look of the bedrooms by putting up new, lighter curtains, changing the bedspreads, and added new accents to the rooms.  It is fun to switch up your home decor seasonally.  Think bright accents and flowy curtains.  Here are a couple inexpensive ways to add a quick spring pick-me-up for any room.

  • Use fresh flowers to accent the room.
  • Buy new curtains to brighten up the room.
  • Use a brighter table runner to spice up your dining table.
  • Paint DIY wooden frames different accent colors to brighten up your space.

Corporate Chic

Looking good in the office is a must.  However, it can be hard to look professional and express your own style.  That’s why I like to start with the basics and dress it up with accessories.  I love separates (over suits) as well because you can mix & match different blazers with different pants & skirts.  This way you can find your own corporate style.  Today’s featured look is the Navy chic corporate look.  So professional yet a little edgy.

A walk in the Garden

I finally got the opportunity to sit down with a florist for my wedding bouquets and centerpieces.  I always thought flowers were pretty but sitting down with the designer made me truly appreciate the broad array of flowers and the artistic work that goes into floral arrangements.  Each flower has it’s own character, texture, and color.  Some of the flowers that I found most amazing and unique are below:

Peonies:  These flowers remind me of fluffly clouds and cotton candy.  They are so dainty and the texture is absolutely gorgeous.  These flowers are at their prime in June.

Orchids:  These flowers are so exotic and rich in color, they are perfect for a modern vibe.  Although expensive since they grow in tropical areas, they are simple and elegant.

Sunflowers:  There is something about a sunflower that is magical.  Maybe that it grows so big and so perfect in this exaggerated bright yellow color.  They represent warmth and happiness and are beautiful, simple flowers.

Tiger Lillies:  These plants are exotic and sexy.  The bright orange against the spotted black is so cool that they look almost too perfect to be natural plants.
