Chocolate-covered Peppermint Oreos

oreorecipe

In Connecticut, it is a beautiful snowy day which can be fun when there are Christmas movies on all day. The snowy scenery and festive movies made me want to whip up a holiday treat that was yummy yet not too time consuming. I remembered I bought these amazing Peppermint Oreos which taste like candy canes & chocolate (who can resist?). This recipe is no bake and takes only a few ingredients and makes for the perfect holiday treat to share.

Ingredients:

  • Your favorite oreo flavor (I used peppermint for holidays)
  • Chocolate bark or discs to melt (I used milk and dark chocolate)
  • Sprinkles of choice (I had mini gingerbread sprinkles & multi-colored)

Directions:

1. Melt chocolate. I did it in the microwave. Stop every 30 seconds and stir.

2. Set aside several sheets of wax paper. When your oreos set, they will peel off easily!

3. Once the chocolate is melted, use a spoon or tongs to dunk oreos in the chocolate. Make sure they are completely covered. Set on wax paper.

4. Decorate with sprinkles before melted chocolate sets.

5. Let sit in fridge for about a half hour.

6. Once chocolate is hard, place in fun jars and decorate to hand out as holiday gifts!

Hostess with the Mostess

It is so fun to entertain and get people together, especially during the holidays. If you are hosting a fun dinner party or holiday cocktail get-together, what are your tips? Here are some of mine.

1. Have great serving dishes. I was lucky to get some amazing wedding gifts and adorable serving platters were some of my fave gifts. From the wooden tray that holds dip and sides, to the adorable chalkboard cheese platter, it makes hosting that much more entertaining!
2. Take advantage of peoples’ skills! I was lucky enough for my last gathering to have a chef come over and she made homemade pumpkin crème brulee, something that I would have never pulled off. If you know someone makes awesome martinis or an amazing appetizers, don’t be shy to have them bring their favorite dish!

3. Build Up Your Pantry. Have items that make entertaining easy regularly on hand. Try keeping a jar of salsa, some great spreads, assorted crackers, nuts, chocolates and cheese. You never know when you might have people over!
4. Set the mood. Have your favorite Pandora station ready and dim the lights to create a fun, relaxing environment.
5. Have entertainment ready. Of course people love to chat and eat but a deck of cards or a few board games may come in handy with a fun group. I love Texas Holdem’ and Apples to Apples.

6. Have fun! No one wants an uptight hostess. Entertain your guests and don’t be stuck in the kitchen all night. People came to see you too!

Lace + Burgandy

As a Topshop + Nordstrom brand ambassador I had an awesome opportunity to be one of the first to shop at the Topshop Nordstrom launch. Check out my Topshop Loves CT post here.  I fell in love with this romantic lace top and wore it for Thanksgiving.  I a paired it with my old faithful burgundy skinny jeans from American Eagle also worn here and a rose gold watch c/o Guess.
