‘Tis the Season to *Shine*

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Wanted to share a fun photo shoot I did with the same friend that did my makeup in my last post. I had this new sequined skirt and she helped me style it! xo Here’s to a great 2014

Holiday Shimmer Makeup Tutorial

My makeup routine is very simple. I usually put on tinted moisturizer with SPF and put on my Bare Minerals Bronzer and some mascara. It’s quick & easy and great for everyday but I needed some tips for a more formal look for the holidays. Luckily, my friend Liz Adams is a makeup guru and Mary Kay ambassador so she taught me some holiday makeup tips.

Face

1. Start with a clean, fresh face with moisturizer.

2. Apply small dabs of foundation to forehead, cheekbones, nose, and chin. (Mary Kay used here.)

3. Blend in makeup with clean makeup brush.

4. Add bronzer where the “sun would naturally hit you.” ie- Nose, forehead and cheeks.

5. Finish with translucent powder (Mary Kay used here.)

Eyes

1. Start with a base of eye primer and use a light champagne colored shimmery eye shadow focused on the inner half of the eyelid.
3. Next, sweep a shimmery gold color across the outer half of the lid.
4.Use a darker eye shadow in the crease on the upper eyelid. We chose a mix of darker gold & brown  but you could use a pop of color to match your holiday dress!
5. Using a slightly lighter brown hue, blend the dark shadow to soften the line within the crease.
6. Bring the same color down and around the outer corner of the lower lash line.
7.  Finely line the upper lash line with liquid eyeliner.  For the “cat-eye” effect, brush a thin line out and wing out.
8.  Complete the holiday look with a couple coats of black mascara!

Holiday Gift Guide: Men’s Edition

Ladies, haven’t finished your guy’s Holiday shopping yet?  We know it’s so hard to shop for our men.  They need something and they go get it.  No shopping around or comparing or going through the thrill that us women go through.  It makes it so hard to pick out a special gift around the holidays.

However, I have hand-picked amazing holiday gifts that your man will be sure to love and no worries, you can get just in time for Christmas.

Mensgiftguide

1. The Music Lover: Move over Dr. Dre Beats. These are the headphones that Dr. Dre actually uses. They are comfortable and literally feel like you are in a studio when you have them on. I have a pair so I have first hand experience.

Pick out his favorite CDs and gift these Seinnhesier HD598 Audiphile Headphones.  You can purchase online or go to Best Buy, Sears, and pretty much any electronic store.  He will love these.

2. The “Pretty Boy”:  This guy is always looking in the mirror and you want to get him something that will fulfill his inner-god.

{The Art of Shaving kit will be the most luxurious at-home shave money can buy. If he travels a lot, get him the Carry On Kit. ($50)}

{Gucci Guilty is perfect for the guy who wants to smell clean and delicious.  Will also be good for you when you are up close! You can find at Target for $52.}

3. The Work-aholic:  Your man is working hard to give you the finer things in life (how sweet!), so treat him to some amazing gifts that make his workday a little more spicy with an amazing leather laptop bag and statement cufflinks that work as a watch as well!

{Eco-Dark Brown Bag $298 boticca.com}

{Blackened Silver Working Watch Cuff Links $150 neimanmarcus.com}

4. The fashionist-o:  Dating a metro-sexual or just a guy that loves to dress well? Lucky you.  Spoil him with some designer goodies this season.

{Tom Ford Sunglasses $332 farfetch.com}

Street Style: Sparkle & Snow

streetstylesparkleandsnow-header
It looks like it going to be a White Christmas in Connecticut. As Street Style fashionistas, we are bringing on the sparkle and winter boots. Last night, Jen and myself were lucky enough to score tickets to John Mayer’s concert at the Webster Bank Arena (in Bridgeport, CT where John Mayer was born!) & it was so amazing because John Mayer was raised in Fairfield, Connecticut and he was totally feeling his roots. It definitely showed through his heart-felt performance.
It was a cold night and I opted for a not-too-warm festive top with some booties and black leggings (these pictures are pre-jacket!).  Jen was a bit more bundled up an adorable hat & scarf.

Are you like me and love sequins and sparkle this time of year?  What is your favorite winter accessory?

Just a few of my Favorite Things- Christmas Edition

chirstmaswishlist

My wishlist is pretty versatile this year from fashion items to home decor. I’m an easy gal to shop for, so I think! 🙂

I’ve been dying for some J. Crew Etta Pumps, but can’t decide plaid or the adorable sparkly heel! Which do you like best?
Also loving Jane Iredale BB cream and makeup since it’s all natural and amazing.
Other items include new glasses since I sat on my Fendi ones and broke them! (sad day for me.)
Of course I’d love to add to my Alex & Ani collection and loving the spiky bangle to spice my arm candy up.
A new-school Polaroid camera would be so fun as well as the classic cream Burberry scarf and a few new throw pillows for my favorite sectional couch.
