Layer for Fall

Layering is such a trend for fall because it is cute, comfy, and convenient.  You can still wear your summer shirts while layering your fall tops and coming up with a whole different look for your light weight tanks.  And layering is not just for the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsens of the world, anyone can pull it off.  One tip: it’s like overtweezing, do not over layer. 🙂

Fun hair trends

Lately there have been so many hair trends from feather extentions, tinsel strands, and even crimping is coming back.  Last week I decided to try the hair tinsel.  Since I am blonde, I tried the gold ones.  They are super cute but don’t last very long-maybe a week.  I had them tied in by a hairdresser and they were pretty cheap- $2 per strand.  However, I know you can get your own tinsel and tie them in yourself.  Throw a funky hair party where you can get your friends together and try something a little out of the ordinary with your hair that is not permanent.

Eat your Heart out at the Big E

If you are from New England, you have heard of the Big E. {Sept 16-Oct. 2nd} It’s sort of like a rite of passage for us New Englanders.  It’s all about getting together and trying the deliciously unhealthy food.  So make sure you eat nothing else the week you go there.  From kettle popcorn to fried oreos, you can find pretty much anything fried, even kool-aid!  Enjoy the options below, courtesy of www.courant.com. I know, I know I just did a post on healthy snacks yesterday!

Fried butter

Paula Cushing sprinkles Kool-Aid powder on her deep-fried Kool-Aid balls.

Fried kool-aid balls… keeping kids up all night since 1892. 🙂

Fried Jelly Beans are new to the Big E this year. Jelly Beans are dropped in batter, which is then deep fried. The result looks and tastes kind of like a muffin.

The fried cake is topped with whipped cream and strawberry sauce and a sprinkle of confectioners' sugar.

Fried cheesecake

Fried pickles served with buttermilk ranch dressing for dipping.

Snooki’s Big E food choice:  Fried pickles

The Big E Cream Puff is a perennial favorite at the Big E. The pastries are assembled with the speed and precision of a high speed watch factory. The shop is located inside the New England Center.

A local favorite: Big E cream puff balls

For you bacon lovers, chocolate covered bacon.  Do not think I have the courage to try this one.

This greasy gourmet creation was new to the Big E in 2009. The Craz-E Burger is a bacon cheeseburger on a split and grilled glazed donut. Warning: Eat with caution. This crazy concoction seems like a heart attack waiting to happen.

O M G. The Craz-E burger.  A bacon cheeseburger between 2 glazed donuts.  I challenge anyone to try this one out.  I myself, will not. 🙂

Your favorite cookie sandwich dipped in batter, deep fried and covered in vanilla frosting, powdered sugar or chocolate syrup...need we say more?

Fried Oreos… a classic.

You can actually watch these sweet little rounds being made in the Vermont building. From the oil to your plate...doesn't that sound great?

Apple cider donuts.. one of my guilty faves.

Apples as big as your head dipped in chocolate and coated with all types of treats, from carmel and nuts to M&Ms and sprinkles and more. This entire booth in the Rhode Island building is a dentist's worst nightmare...

Candy apples.. definitely big enough to share

There's a reason people line up out the door at the Maine building for this baked potato. It is quite possibly the best baked potato in New England. Trust us, it is so worth the wait.
