Red Solo Cup

For some reason, the red solo cup country song really makes me think of the start of summer. I love barbeques, going out on the Long Island Sound boating, playing backyard volleyball, and just enjoying the beautiful weather. This weekend, since it’s Memorial Day, I will try to be festive with some patriotic colors as well as really pay honor to the people that serve. Thank you for all that you do. My dad is a navy veteran and anyone who chooses the path to serve our country is a hero in my book.

Wednesday’s Look for Less

My rule of thumb is to splurge on the classics and save on the trends. A LBD that you will wear to every other fwedding? Splurge. That romper that you want to wear for a bachelorette party? Save. A classic trench for every season?  Splurge. You get the picture! Invest in your classics and get the look for less on some looks to save some cash for your next fashion investment.  Once in a while, however, something is so unique, that you simply have to splurge in fear that you may never come across it again.  This is best to do on vacation, especially since there will be a fun story behind the piece!

What pieces do you think are work splurging on?

Topshop Valentine

Topshop Valentine

As a Topshop ambassador I am a little bias but I do LOVE their feminine yet edgy pieces. I love this wrap skirt and scalloped shirt and those bow shoes, I totally have on my wishlist. Although I hate the commercialization of Valentine’s Day, I’ll take any excuse to wear hearts & pink.

Man up! 2014 Men’s Fashion Trends

Men’s fashion has come back with a vengeance and I am happy that many men are taking interest in their personal style. Levi’s jeans and combat boots just don’t cut it guys! When looking ahead to 2014, think clean yet edgy looks, sort of dapper mad-men style. I am loving the boldness of colorful pocket squares, printed bow ties, and colorful watches for men.

Berry Layers

Berryfall

As much as we do not want to admit or even think about, fall is right around the corner.  However, the beauty of the transitional period of weather is the fabulous mixed you can do with your summer and fall wardrobe to put together an eclectic look.  A summer maxi layered with a plain black tank and a jean vest is the perfect look that can be transitioned from 75 degree weather to 60 degree weather since the layers are so relaxed and effortless.  The introduction of berry colors such as Essie Plumberry and the gorgeous Clarin’s lipstick shade in Aubergine.  The studded Michael Kors cross body and the ECHO Black Studded wedges make the perfect statement for the “almost-fall” look, along with gold accessories such as GUESS’s Chase gold-tine watch pictured above.

How are you mixing your summer and fall pieces?
