Casual Updo

A lot of times, we associate updos with more formal events but I am a huge fan of updos for a casual night out, especially as the weather starts to get warmer. With festival season upon on, twists and braids are everything right now. I am loving this updo by Ashley Stone, owner of Beauty Entourage, which I paired with my favorite Nasty Gal headpiece. I did give this type of updo a stab on my own and was happy with the results. Of course it doesn’t compare to Beauty Entourage but for a quick updo, the braided crown is easy to master. One of my favorite looks from the Candy Stilettos lookbook on Serene Sky boutique is this burgundy and fringe style that exudes comfort and style. Even though it’s March, the temps have been in the 30’s so still hanging onto my boots and thicker tights for the season!

Tied Dye Poncho: Serene Sky Lookbook Series

I am excited to share some of my favorite styles from the lookbook collaboration with Serene Sky Boutique a few weeks back and am so in love with their clothing. This Tied Dye poncho by Oh! So Cali Clothing was perfectly boho chic and made me feel so beautiful. I loved the way my hairdresser {Ashley Stone from Beauty Entourage} did the braided casual updo which really put together the look, along with neutral, soft makeup. Black + Tan

Sometimes, nothing beats a chic all black look. Although a classic look, adding a fun fabric or color can bring an otherwise classic outfit to feel a little more trendy. This adorable leather fringe bag that I found on clearance at Marshall’s did just that, added a little flare to bring this look to life. The slimming of darker colors also helps my quickly rounding shape 🙂

New Life,New You

This time of year is extra special for some of us but extra difficult for those going through family, personal or relationship issues. It is the time of year to give thanks for what you have been blessed with and help those that are in need. It was an honor to work with Salon Alexander/Beauty Entourage, Sassy Mouth Photography, Dressbarn, and Lyn Evans Potpourri Designs and collaborate this day of beauty for survivors of domestic abuse from Interval House.

The wonderful, generous staff members Salon Alexander gave free cuts, color, style, and makeup to these strong women just a few days before Thanksgiving. Dressbarn and Lynn Evans styled the women in fabulous clothing to bring their looks to life. Sassy Mouth Photo took headshots of the strong, beautiful women. This makeover was not just about looking beautiful, but feeling beautiful inside & out so these women can really feel the meaning of New Life, New You. Some of the women expressed their gratitude by saying that their new hair color or cut was a start to a new beginning. Another woman said she never felt more beautiful in her life. It was an amazing event to be a part of! Fox CT even came out & did a wonderful story on our event. Ashley Stone, owner of Salon Alexander talks about why this was so important to her and how domestic violence is a cause that is close to her heart.
