St. Agnes Home Fashion Show

Last night I was lucky enough to attend the St. Agnes Home Express Yourself Fashion Show.  The event was to suppoer St. Agnes, which is an organization that helps teen moms choose life and helps them through their schooling, parenting, and gives them the resources they need to care for their child.  It was such a great event.  The moms and mom-to-bes modeled some beautiful designer clothes and the event was held at the CT governor’s residence which was pretty cool as well.  My photos aren’t the highest quality since they were from my iphone but I wanted to share a few pics! I was also able to meet some great people in the fashion industry such as personal stylist Laree from Vintage Chic  by Design (www.vintagechicbydesign.com )  and stylist from Lyn Evans (http://www.lynevans.com/).

Crackerjack Cookies

This recipe is from the 1930’s so what can be more patriotic for your Independence Day snacks?

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 cups quick cooking oats
  • 1 1/2 cups flaked coconut
  • 2 cups crisp rice cereal
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped salted peanuts

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.

2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar and brown sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt, stir into the creamed mixture. Gently stir in the oatmeal, coconut, rice cereal and chopped peanuts, try not to pulverize the rice cereal.

3. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove from cookie sheets to cool on wire racks.

DIY Glitter Lantern

Summer is all about pool parties, picnics, and barbeques and since 4th of July is coming up, I am sure there are many summer bashes to be thrown.  I thought this glitter lantern idea was adorable, especially for a 4th of July party or summer birthday and it’s so easy.  Since I glitterfy a lot of things, I was lucky enought to already have spray glitter from when I glittered my plain old black flats from this post.  I have found these plain white lanterns at dollar stores- so cheap & easy!
