Winter White

I had a girls night out last Saturday since the boys decided to go to Boston without us!  We decided to do a little bar-hopping and some dinner so I wanted to be comfortable and warm!  I went with this winter white sweater and my favorite dressy jeans and some comfy black wedges & went to my go-to simple but chic accessories.  Of course I had to show some UCONN pride as well! 🙂

{Sequined sweater: Forever 21| Bootleg jeans: Kenneth Cole| Boyfriend Watch c/o Guess| Alex and Ani Huskies charm bracelet| Diamond chain necklace: Charming Charlie}

I also later paired this with my leather Express leather jacket but only got an instagram shot 🙂

Stocking Stuffers

I am usually the one the week before Christmas scrambling around to get my last-minute gifts.  This year I started early since I am going to Punta Cana right before the holidays for a destination wedding (lucky me!).  So I started and found some great stocking stuffer ideas or gifts for friends, family, co-workers.  From a new Essie nail color, only $7 to an Alex and Ani charm bracelet ($20-30), these gifts are sure to make the recipient happy and not break the bank!  I am in LOVE with the Dior BB creme- got sold on it at the Dior makeup counter, perfect gift for Mom! 🙂

Baked Sweet Potato Fries

I LOVE french fries and I especially love sweet potato fries.  I know when I get them out, they are fried so I just make them at home and can control how much oil and unhealthy extras go into them.  This recipe is so healthy and delicious!! 🙂

1. Pre-heat ove to 450
2. Peel sweet potatoes and slice into wedges
3. In a bowl mix a potato wedges, olive oil, rosemary, sea salt, and a tablespoon  of low-sugar maple syrup
4. Put on non-stick pan and bake for about 30 minutes.
Enjoy! Sweet potatoes are high in Vitamin C & Vitamin D so they are guilt-free fries 🙂

Halloween on a Whim

Last Minute Halloween Projects

  • Pumpkin carving can be quite a project.  If you want a last-minute pumpkin decoration for your trick-or-treaters, garb some paint and paint a pumpkin.  It’s less messy & still so adorable!

  • Mummy door.  You don’t even  have to go to the store for this!  Grab some toilet paper and make some eyeballs out of construction paper and voila!

  • Easy Halloween snack:  Nutter Butter Ghosts.  Pick up a pack of Nutter Butter cookies and some white chocolate and mini chocolate chips for the eyes.  So easy yet festive.
  • Last minute costume idea: Katniss Everdeen, from The Hunger Games: Army green pants, leather jacket, riding boots, a side braid. The one prop you may have to find is a toy bow which you can probably find at Walmart!

Storm Prep

Hurricane Sandy is on it’s way!  Make sure you stock up on these essentials.  I especially love the portable iPhone charger which you can find online and get it just in time!  Also loving those battery-powered paper lanterns from Pier 1 Imports.. your house will look like you are having a party.. not a power-outage!  Make sure you have entertainment too.. for your own sanity if you lose power.  Board games, cards, magazines, books, etc.  Stay safe everyone!
