Go Bold or Go Home

A huge part of my style in fashion, home decor, and even food is color.  I am not one to paint all my walls beige or wear all gray & black.  Adding bold color to your home (or even your outfit) can be very intimidating so it’s important to start small.  Below are a few of my picks for accenting color in your home.  From a simple candle to a bold accent chair, these items are very rational and delightfully bold.

Banana Pancakes

Big breakfasts are one of my favorite things to do on a Saturday or Sunday morning, especially after a night out.  Since I have been so busy lately on the weekends, I have not had time for making anything but toast or cereal in the morning.  This weekend, however, I am going to use this go-to recipe.  Last time I made these babies, they came out awesome.  Very light, fluffy, and delicious. Oh & a few mimosas won’t hurt!

Ingredients

  •                     1 cup all-purpos flour
  •                     1 tablespoon white sugar
  •                     2 teaspoons baking powder
  •                     1/4 teaspoon salt
  •                     1 egg, beaten
  •                     1 cup milk
  •                     2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  •                     2 ripe bananas, mashed

            Directions

1. Combine flour, white sugar, baking powder and salt. In a separate bowl, mix together egg, milk, vegetable oil and bananas.

2. Stir flour mixture into banana mixture; batter will be slightly lumpy.

3.  Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Cook until pancakes are golden brown on both sides; serve hot.

Berry Skinny Spritzer

It’s hard to find a yummy drink these days that are not filled with calories.  A margarita or pina colada can be over 600 calories- Yikes!  Since I love fruity cocktails, this berry drink is the perfect warm day-on-the-deck drink. 🙂

Small Space Decor

As a twenty-something newly married, working gal on-the-go, I wanted to make the most of our small space condo.  I also wanted to make my space feel like home by customizing and decorating to my personal style. With a limited budget and some resourceful creativity, here is what we did to our place.

1. Bold master bedroom.

We were a little nervous at first but went for it.  The color here is Benjamin Moore Miami Green.  Comforter is Martha Stewart Shimmer collection. Oh, & Jingles made it into this picture, this is her fave room because we get a lot of sunlight here. 🙂

2. Beach themed bathroom.

Since beach-themed items are accessible and cheap free on the beach, it was the easiest decor to pull off in a bathroom.  From real seashells to a bag of seaglass, these accents were very inexpensive & effortless.

3. Wine as Decor.

Both pretty & extrememly handy.  Wall Wine racks- IKEA

4.  Safari Living Room.

Why not use animal print for pillow couches?  With a little real photography from a family member in Africa and some bold prints, we were able to pull of a chic looking space for our living room.
